Key Ideas

It should be pointed out that you don’t have to understand what I’m talking about here to engage in a basic practice of endopsychoanalysis. Simply invoke the technique, observe the consequences in reality, and apply your own training and expertise. However, other than the time it takes you to convince yourself of the reality of this technique, you should never rely on a-theoretical application of the principles outlined here. At some point in your practice you will begin to encounter some of the deeper spiritual realities and truths that form the foundations of the psychological realities on this planet and when that begins to occur in one of your clients, you are going to need to be familiar with the theory (both through intellectual understanding and the practical experience of undergoing self administered endopsychoanalysis) in order to understand and treat the client. Otherwise you run the risk of undermining or reversing progress, and/or precipitating psychosis.

With that in mind here are some basic statements about endopsychology for your consideration. As you will see, many of the following assumptions require radical revisions in our thinking about key psychological concepts. Since there is no way for me to provide an argument to justify these radical revisions in this short space, I will simply concentrate on elucidating key concepts and pointing at additional sources of information within this emerging psychological rubric.

New Science. We start elucidation by pointing out that the foundations of this new psychology are not to be found in traditional materialist science. Rather, the foundations of this psychology are to be found in a new science that posits radically different ontological and epistemological foundations. Ontologically, the new science rejects materialism (i.e., the idea that the material world is the primary and only reality), rejects dualism (i.e., the supposition that reality is composed of a material component separate from an “ideal” or spiritual component), and embraces a radical idealism that posits that consciousness is the primary and only reality. Within this new science “all things emerge first in consciousness.” Epistemologically, the new science adopts a pluralistic epistemological approach accepting, unlike it’s “modern” cousin, both externally and internally validated knowledge. For those interested, I broach a discussion of the new science in My Mystical big TOE. I also outline what I consider to be the cosmological, ontological, and theological reality upon which the new science is based in The Book of Light. Obviously, this ontological position requires the revision of assumptions across scientific boundaries.

For our purposes here, it is enough to note that the fundamental ontological position of the new science is that consciousness is the primary reality upon which everything else emerges. In reference to psychology, this ontological position leads either to the extension (as in the case of the ego or bodily consciousness), revision, or rejection of key psychological concepts like the ego, the unconsciousness, and so on. Definitional versions of these new concepts have been incorporated, in nascent form, into the SpitiWiki. It is my intention to tie these concepts together and provide some foundational statements on the structure of consciousness in the body in my forthcoming Book of Consciousness. All subsequent statements derive, in one way or another, from the ontological primacy of consciousness.

Body as vehicle for Spirit. Since consciousness is ontologically primary, it does not depend on the physical body for it’s existence. Rather the physical body can be seen as a container for consciousness, or as a vehicle for Spirit. As I outline in my book The Great Awakening, the container can hold varying amounts of consciousness, from the relatively low level represented by “normal” consciousness to the heights of mystical ecstasy made possibly by a healthy and fully functioning physical unit. As noted here, the purpose of psychology is to understand the “physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the physical unit with an eye towards identifying and encouraging realization of the full potential of the vessel.” Endopsychotherapy is that branch of psychology concerned with treating a damaged and poorly functioning physical unit.

Brain as sensitive and underutilized instrument. In order to do this, in order to treat a poorly functioning physical unit, psychologists must realize that the brain and central nervous system are extremely powerful, sensitive and underutilized instruments of consciousness capable of naturally developing much more sophisticated expressions of spiritual consciousness than are currently experienced on this earth. The only reason they don’t is because of pathological socialization and child rearing process geared towards the production of low functioning adults suitable for wage or professional slavery. As Freud discovered, one of the outcomes of the pathological child rearing practices of this planet is development of an ego pathologically committed to external validation and capable of profound levels of psychic repression. Repression is used by the organism for several reasons. It is used to keep unwanted aspects of higher consciousness out out our waking reality. It is used to hide away traumatic childhood abuses in a (usually successful) attempt to avoid the capacity of the physical unit for spontaneous healing. Finally, it is used keep aspect of the self which do not coincide with the the fantasies of self created by the socialization process out of awareness. In all cases repression requires a literal repression of psychic energy sourced not exclusively from the “id” (i.e., the sacral chakra) as Freud suggested, but from all chakra points in the body. Obviously, the repression leads to psychological and, if maintained over the longer term, physical illness.

In this context, endopsychotherapy is an attempt to remove repressions and return the physical unit to energetic health (and consequently physical and mental health). Since the primary ontological position of endopsychotherapy is that consciousness is the root of all things, the removal of repressions starts with the identification of ideation patterns that support the self-repression of chakral energies. This includes the identification of repressive ideological, spiritual, dogmatic, political, psychological, or social constructs. The archetypal example of an ideational construct that the self-repression of chakra energies is the ideological separation of the human species into two opposing genders where one side represses one broad set of energies (i.e., yin energies) and the other side represses another broad set. My Lightning Path Core books, and that archetypal revisions represented by my modified tarot system, are an attempt to locate and revise several relevant ideological, spiritual, political, psychological, and social constructs.

Following a conceptual revision that can support a properly activated physical unit, endopsychotherapy turns its attention to clearing any repressions which prevent proper activation of the physical unit. The general technique revolves around chakra activation and, in particular, crown chakra activation. A list of potential crown activators can be found here. In private practice, and with inexperienced practitioners, endopsychotherapy recommends the use of chakra visualizations rather than the more powerful enthogenic crown activators. The chakra visualization recommended as the core of clinical practice is the Great Invocation.
